Real Madrid starlet Takefusa Kubo could reportedly be closing in on a transfer to La Liga rivals Real Sociedad this summer.

According to AS, Takefusa Kubo is poised to leave Real Madrid in the ongoing transfer window, as he is inching closer towards a transfer to fellow La Liga club Real Sociedad.

Kubo joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, arriving from Japanese club FC Tokyo. A former trainee of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, the 21-year-old has spent his entire spell with Los Blancos away on loan, having had stints at RCD Mallorca (twice), Villarreal and Getafe.

The Japanese international spent the last season on loan at Mallorca, featuring 30 times in all competitions, scoring two and assisting three goals in the process. Back at Real Madrid, the youngster does not have a place at the Santiago Bernabeu as the three non-EU spots in the squad have already been occupied.

Real Madrid have been looking to loan him out for the upcoming campaign, but Real Sociedad are planning to sign him permanently. It had led to a brief lull in talks, but the discussions have been advancing in recent days as Los Blancos could now consider offloading the Japanese international with an option to buy him back later.

Real Sociedad have lost Adnan Januzaj this summer, with the Belgian international departing as a free agent after his contract expired. So, Imanol Alguacil’s side are on the lookout for a replacement for the former Manchester United starlet, with Kubo being identified as a top target.

As iterated earlier, La Real wish to sign the Japanese international permanently and have made progress in talks with Real Madrid. What works in their favour is that the reigning Spanish and European champions wish to sort Kubo’s future before they fly off for their pre-season tour to the United States of America.

Real Sociedad have been chasing Kubo for three summers in a row now and could finally get their man, with the 21-year-old attacker also keen on joining the Basque outfit. There is a strong possibility that a buyback option will be inserted in the deal, which should further help convince Real Madrid to finalise the sale of the prodigious winger.
