Christian Eriksen has joined Manchester United by signing a three-year contract, with the Dane becoming the Red Devils’ second summer signing.

Premier League heavyweights Manchester United have made an official statement to announce that they have secured the services of Christian Eriksen. The Danish playmaker has completed a free transfer to Old Trafford, penning a three-year contract with the Red Devils after becoming their second summer signing.

Christian Eriksen has scripted a fairytale comeback to football after suffering from a harrowing cardiac arrest at UEFA Euro 2020. The 30-year-old returned to training a few months later but could not continue playing his trade for Inter Milan as Serie A rules prevented him from playing with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.

But Brentford handed him a route back to football, and he repaid their faith handsomely. The Dane chipped in with one goal and four assists in 11 appearances, helping the Bees retain their Premier League status. But Eriksen had become a free agent after the expiration of his Brentford deal, with Manchester United now securing his signature.

The interest from Manchester United came off as a surprising decision, as Bruno Fernandes is already at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. The Red Devils are also hot on the heels of Frenkie de Jong, and the Dutchman will bolster their creative ranks if he arrives at Old Trafford.

But Eriksen flourished on the flanks under Mauricio Pochettino during his stint with Tottenham Hotspur, thus making him a viable target for Manchester United. And while the 30-year-old was initially reluctant to join Manchester United, he ultimately gave in by verbally agreeing to join them.

Eriksen has now completed his move to Manchester United, signing a three-year contract to become their second summer signing. And the Dane expressed his delight upon joining Manchester United on a free transfer.

“Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started. I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling. I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day.”

“It is clear that he is a fantastic coach. Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future. I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”

The Red Devils have gone into an overdrive since signing Tyrell Malacia earlier this month. And Lisandro Martinez should soon become Manchester United’s third summer signing, with the Argentine international reportedly arriving in Manchester to undergo his medical.
