Barcelona star Memphis Depay is reportedly not interested in joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer amidst an uncertain future at Camp Nou.

According to SPORT, Memphis Depay does not wish to leave Barcelona in favour of a transfer to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing transfer window.

Depay joined Barcelona only last summer on a Bosman deal after his contract with Olympique Lyon ran out. The 28-year-old Netherlands international enjoyed a solid enough debut campaign, finishing as the Catalans’ top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions. However, his future at Camp Nou has been cast into doubt due to Barcelona’s transfer plans.

The Blaugrana are on the verge of re-signing Ousmane Dembele on a two-year contract. They also have reached total agreement to acquire the services of Raphinha from Leeds United. On top of that, Barcelona are also pursuing Robert Lewandowski and are confident of getting the deal over the line.

These moves would render Depay surplus to requirements at Camp Nou as he would fall down the pecking order under manager Xavi Hernandez. So even though the Barcelona head coach values the forward’s ability and versatility, a sale could be on the cards, considering that the Dutchman has just one year left on his contract.

Barcelona have thus slapped a €20 million price tag on Depay’s head. And, Tottenham Hotspur, who recently signed Clement Lenglet on loan from the La Liga heavyweights, are interested in the 28-year-old and have made an enquiry for the versatile attacker.

Tottenham have been one of the pacesetters in the ongoing summer transfer window, having made several signings already. Indeed, Antonio Conte’s side have brought in Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Lenglet already, while they are also poised to sign Djed Spence from Middlesbrough.

However, the transfer business is seemingly far from done at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Despite signing Richarlison, Conte is keen on adding another option in his attack to compete with and provide cover for Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Given his ability to play on the left or through the middle, Depay has emerged as a viable target.

But, as per the report from SPORT, Depay has no intentions of joining Tottenham this summer, despite the Lilywhites being able to offer him Champions League football. The former Manchester United ace wishes to continue at Barcelona. However, he also desires regular game-time, especially with the World Cup on the horizon. So, it remains to be seen what the Dutch ace decides in the coming days.
