West Ham are ready to step up their pursuit of Chelsea forward Armando Broja this summer.

According to Evening Standard, West Ham United are growing desperate in their search for a new striker this summer. They have targeted several options across the market, but have now prioritised a move for Armando Broja. The Londoners rate the Albanian highly and are currently in talks with Chelsea over his potential move to London Stadium.

Although West Ham are yet to make an official bid for Broja, they have been involved in intense talks with Chelsea over the past 72 hours. Coach David Moyes is firm on signing the Albanian international, especially after having failed to bring in a quality alternative to Michail Antonio over the past two transfer windows.

Broja is coming on the back of a successful loan spell at Southampton. Although his tally of just six goals in 33 league matches may seem underwhelming, the youngster made a far bigger impact with his work-ethic, aggression and physical presence in the box.

The 20-year-old’s contributions were ultimately critical in helping Southampton steer clear of relegation. His performances have not gone unnoticed either, with West Ham prepared to make him their primary centre-forward heading into the new season.

Goalscoring has been a problem for the east Londoners in the recent past, with the main forward Antonio struggling with consistency. It has accentuated the need for a new number nine that can compete with the Jamaican international in the coming season.

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Arnaut Danjuma earlier in the month, but it appears the Villarreal star has no intention of joining the London outfit. It has compelled Moyes to look at other options in the market and that is where Armando Broja comes into the fray.

The Albanian international is currently one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League and could prove to be a long-term fix to West Ham’s woes in front of goal. However, luring the youngster from Stamford Bridge could be tricky, knowing Chelsea are on the hunt for a new centre-forward this summer.

The Blues have recently sanctioned Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan and have no faith in Timo Werner. It might just compel them to keep hold of Broja, who has shown immense promise in the Premier League so far and may have what it takes to become the main man in Thomas Tuchel’s setup next season.
