Newly-promoted La Liga club Girona are reportedly eyeing a summer move for 20-year-old Barcelona attacker Ez Abde.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Girona are preparing for a major summer overhaul to ensure their return to La Liga is not short-lived. They are eyeing 10 to 12 summer signings, with Barcelona prospect Ez Abde amongst the names on their transfer wishlist.

The young winger joined Barcelona from Spanish fourth division side Hercules in the 2021 summer transfer window and represented the club’s B team for the most part. Abde did make ten La Liga appearances for the Blaugrana first team and also scored a goal, leaving a fine impression on the coaching staff.

Girona are now exploring the possibility of getting the 20-year-old on board from their local rivals ahead of the 2022/23 season. The newly-promoted club share a good relationship with Barcelona, which could facilitate a possible move for the youngster.

At Camp Nou, Abde will struggle to get regular game-time, with Ousmane Dembele set to sign a new contract and Raphinha rumoured to be closing in on a move to the club. Thus a loan move to another La Liga club, where the Moroccan will feature regularly will interest all parties involved.

The youngster has joined Barcelona for pre-season training now, but rising interest from other clubs could prompt the young prospect to make a summer move.

At Girona, who have made a formal enquiry for Abde, the Catalan giants will be able to monitor the 20-year-old attacker’s progress and gauge if he is good enough to be included in the club’s first team on a regular basis. Osasuna and Real Betis have also shown interest in the winger have also shown interest in the winger.

Barcelona are currently involved in multiple transfer deals, with some significant departures and arrivals on the cards. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong is reportedly heading towards an exit, with Manchester United set to sign him.

Dembele, meanwhile, is set to sign a new contract with the club after his previous deal expired in June. The transfer saga involving Raphinha has also gone on for long, but the Catalan giants now seem the favourite to land the Brazilian, beating the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal to his signature.
