Fulham are reportedly prepared to make a fresh move for out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon this summer.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are weighing up a fresh move for Joe Rodon. The newly-promoted Premier League side are looking to shore up their options in the defensive unit, with the Tottenham Hotspur starlet emerging as the perfect candidate.

Fulham were interested in a move for Rodon earlier in the summer. But a transfer did not materialise. They are now prepared to rekindle their interest and make an official attempt to sign the out-of-favour Welsh defender, who is determined to leave Tottenham ahead of the new season.

Rodon joined Tottenham in the summer of 2020, during the domestic window. But the 24-year-old has never been able to fulfil his potential, primarily due to a lack of game-time. In the current setup, Rodon has once again fallen behind the likes of Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier in the pecking order.

The 24-year-old’s role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could dwindle further following the addition of Clement Lenglet from Barcelona. It has compelled the Welsh defender to seek an exit, with Fulham among the clubs prepared to offer him the opportunity to revive his career next season.

After winning the EFL Championship last term, the Cottagers are determined to break their curse in the Premier League. As part of their plan to remain in the English top-flight, Fulham are looking to add more quality to the defensive line, having roped in Portuguese international Joao Palhinha earlier in the summer.

Coach Marco Silva is now looking to add more competition for the central defenders such as Tim Ream, Tosin Adarabioyo and Terence Kongolo by bringing in someone like Joe Rodon. Although the Welshman has not fulfilled his potential at Tottenham, the promise of more game-time could help him bring the best out of his game this coming season.

Tottenham, for their part, will be determined to sanction the sale of Rodon in an attempt to make way for newer signings. The Lilywhites have recently expressed the desire to bring in Atletico Madrid ace Jose Maria Gimenez, and the sale of Rodon, to that end, could go a long way in making that happen.

However, Rodon is not the only defensive target for Fulham, with the Cottagers also keen on a summer swoop for West Ham United starlet Issa Diop.
