Barcelona are reportedly closing in on the capture of Argentine prospect Roman Vega on a loan-to-buy deal for their B team.

According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Barcelona are set to complete the signing of 18-year-old left-back Roman Vega from Argentinos Juniors imminently. The teenage defender is expected to join the Catalans’ B team.

Roman Vega has been with Argentinos Juniors for quite some time now and made his first-team debut for the club in May last year. The teenager has featured just three times for the South American club so far, while he has also been called up to the Argentine Under-20 national team, although he has yet to play for the side.

Nonetheless, the 18-year-old left-back is someone with a lot of promise and potential, and Barcelona have acted quickly to secure his signing this summer. According to the report, the Blaugrana will be signing Vega on a season-long loan deal with an option to make his transfer permanent at the end of the season.

It is further claimed that Barcelona’s proposal has been accepted by Argentinos Juniors and the contracts are now being drafted, with a move to Catalonia imminent for Vega. While he will sign for Barça, the teenager is expected to join the club’s B team initially, where he will be managed by new boss Rafa Marquez, who replaced Sergi Barjuan as the head coach recently.

Vega will be one among several youth prospects to join the Catalans’ B team. They have already announced the signing of Pablo Torre from Racing Santander, while Emre Demir has also arrived from Kayserispor. More recently, Barcelona brought in right-back Alvaro Nunez on a Bosman deal after his contract with Athletic Club ran out.

Nil Ruiz is another player that has joined Barcelona B and Everything seems set for Roman Vega to become the latest addition to the Blaugrana’s subsidiaries. The 18-year-old will likely compete with fellow teenager Alejandro Balde for the left-back spot.

More incomings are expected for the Barcelona B squad, with Las Palmas starlet Alberto Moleiro a target, while they are also closing in on re-signing 19-year-old defender Eric Vega.
