The non-aggression pact between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid has ended, with Los Blancos offered the chance to sign seven Atletico Madrid youth players.

According to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, the non-aggression pact between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid is no longer in effect. The two clubs can thus sign players from each other, with Jesus Fortea leaving Atletico Madrid to join Real Madrid, with seven others offering themselves to Los Blancos.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have had a non-aggression pact for years, with the agreement outlining that two clubs cannot sign a player from each other. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have, in general, a very healthy relationship, and there have been no hostilities between them for some time.

Florentino Perez and Enrique Cerezo have worked hard to ensure a cordial relationship between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. But there is a lot of hostility between the academies at the two clubs. And that has led to the banishment of the non-aggression pact, which prevented Real Madrid from signing a player from Atletico Madrid, and vice-versa.

Jesus Fortea, who had been a part of the Atletico Madrid academy, recently moved to Real Madrid. According to the report, the turning point came when Atletico Madrid beat Alvaro Arbeloa’s team 5-0, with the relations between the two clubs’ academies souring considerably in the last few months.

According to Anton Meana, seven Atletico Madrid youth players have offered themselves to Real Madrid after it emerged that the non-aggression pact broke down. With the agreement no longer in existence, the Merengues are considering the proposals and do not rule out making a move for any of the seven promises.

As things stand, Real Madrid will likely get the rub of the green from the end of the non-aggression pact following the offer to sign seven Atletico Madrid youth players. But there is a call for such deals to be regulated better because currently there is nothing one can do if a gentlemen’s agreement no longer exists.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will continue to bolster the youth setup, with Valencia prospect David Ruiz recently emerging on their radar. It will be interesting to see if any of the seven Atletico Madrid youth players move to Real Madrid anytime soon.
