Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Newcastle United this summer.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been linked with a move away from Chelsea for the past three summers. There will be no exception this time around either, with Newcastle United emerging as a potential suitor for the English forward, as per reports from 90 min.

It appears Newcastle consider Hudson-Odoi one of their many options, in their bid to add more depth in the wide attacking department. Although Moussa Diaby remains the transfer priority for Eddie Howe, they are keeping tabs on Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is rated highly in the Newcastle United camp.

A right winger by trade, Hudson-Odoi is widely regarded as one of the most gifted players to come out of the Chelsea youth academy in recent years. But during his time at Stamford Bridge, he has not been able to fulfil his potential, often struggling to establish himself as a first-team regular for the club.

Last season, for example, the attacker featured in only 15 Premier League matches, struggling to muster up even 1,000 minutes of league football. He has clearly fallen behind the pecking order and with Chelsea considering a fresh move for Manchester City superstar Raheem Sterling, his role in the team could dwindle further next season.

It has alerted Newcastle United, who are in the market for attacking reinforcements as they look to mount a race for the European spots in the coming season. The Magpies are yet to make any substantial investment in the offensive department, especially at a time when coach Eddie Howe clearly lacks a proper starter on the right flank.

That is where Callum Hudson-Odoi comes into the fray. The Chelsea wide man could prove to be an excellent investment on the right-hand side due to his pace and trickery on the flanks. The Englishman is versatile enough to operate as a right wingback as well, which should make him an absolute bargain for Newcastle United.

However, the report suggests the Magpies are prioritising a move for Moussa Diaby as he offers more quality in the final third. The Frenchman is also gifted with the raw pace that should help him thrive in the Premier League next season.

As for Chelsea, they were always unlikely to offload Hudson-Odoi, especially with Hakim Ziyech likely to depart Stamford Bridge while Christian Pulisic is also staring at an uncertain future this summer.
