RB Leipzig midfielder and Everton target Tyler Adams is keen on securing a transfer to Leeds United this summer.

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, RB Leipzig and USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams has set his sights on a summer transfer to Leeds United to reunite with his former manager Jesse Marsch.

Adams has been with RB Leipzig since January 2019 when he arrived from sister club New York Red Bulls FC. Having moved to Germany, the 23-year-old midfielder became an integral part of the Leipzig setup, impressing with his versatile nature.

Adams has made 101 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, but a summer exit could be on the cards as he has fallen out of favour under Domenico Tedesco. Indeed, the USMNT midfield mainstay started just 12 Bundesliga matches during the 2021/22 campaign and is keen on leaving so that he can play regularly ahead of the FIFA World Cup later this year.

Leeds United have shown a serious interest in Adams, with Marsch seemingly behind the push for his signing. The Whites’ boss handed Adams his first-team breakthrough at New York Red Bulls FC and briefly reunited with him at Leipzig last season before getting sacked. Having helped Leeds survive the threat of relegation, he is keen on strengthening his roster this summer.

It has seen Marsch raid Red Bull Salzburg for Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen, while Leeds have also signed Marc Roca from Bayern Munich. The Yorkshire-based outfit now have their sights firmly set on a move for Adams as a potential replacement for Kalvin Phillips, who will soon be joining Manchester City.

However, Everton are also in the race to sign Adams from RB Leipzig this summer. The Toffees lost Fabian Delph after his contract ran out while they are also preparing to sell Allan. It would create an opening for an enforcer like Adams to arrive, with Frank Lampard’s side prepared to battle with Leeds for the 23-year-old.

But, as per Ben Jacobs, Leeds United may have an edge over Everton in the race for Adams as the USMNT ace is keen on moving to Elland Road on a loan deal. It is claimed that the midfielder has already spoken to Marsch about the situation and is intent on sealing a move. RB Leipzig, for their part, are open to letting him leave, having brought in Xaver Schlager.

So, as things stand, a move to Leeds United could materialise for Adams, whereas Everton might have to look elsewhere to strengthen their midfield department.
