Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly been handed a blow in Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries.

According to Calciomercato, Chelsea and Manchester United have been handed a blow in their pursuit of Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch defender joined the Serie A giants just last summer in a €12.5 million move from PSV Eindhoven and was linked with a summer exit after one season at the club.

Inter Milan sold Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain last year. The Nerazzurri have also allowed Ivan Perisic, who played as a left wing-back, to run down his contract and join Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer this summer.

The Serie A giants are thus reluctant to allow another full-back to leave this summer and are eager to hold on to Dumfries, who does not want to leave the club as well. However, the Dutch international is still not considered a ‘non-transferable’ entity by Inter Milan, and they could be persuaded to sell him if a suitable bid arrives, the Calciomercato report claims.

The Nerazzurri value Dumfries at thrice the price they signed him for, which has previously been reported as well. Dumfries has made 45 appearances for Inter Milan across all competitions, scoring five times and assisting seven goals, which has left the Inter management impressed.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to pay up to €30 million for the Dutchman, but that would not meet Inter’s demands. Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also reportedly interested in the Dutch defender, but with every passing day, the chances of him staying put in Milan are increasing.

Inter Milan have signed Cagliari full-back Raoul Bellanova, and some outlets claimed he was signed as a replacement for Dumfries. However, as per the report, the Nerazzurri have taken him on board to add depth to their right-back department as manager Simone Inzaghi prepares for another gruelling season.

As for Chelsea and Manchester United, the Premier League duo will have to set their sights elsewhere to bolster their right-back slots, considering Cesar Azpilicueta and Aaron Wan-Bissaka face uncertain futures at the respective clubs. For now, though, Dumfries looks set to snub Chelsea and Manchester United to remain at Inter Milan beyond the summer transfer window.
