Barcelona misfit Miralem Pjanic has received a contract offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr while the Catalans are ready to release Moussa Wague.

According to Fichajes, Miralem Pjanic has been offered a way out of Barcelona this summer with Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr tabling a contract proposal worth €7-8 million per year for the Bosnian international.

Pjanic has been with Barcelona for only two years, having signed from Juventus in the summer of 2020. However, the 32-year-old endured a forgettable debut campaign in Catalonia under former manager Ronald Koeman and was sent out on loan to Turkish outfit Besiktas last summer.

Pjanic fared better in Turkey but the 32-year-old is now back at Camp Nou, with Besiktas deciding not to sign him permanently. And Barcelona have a huge headache to get rid of the former AS Roma midfielder as he is not in manager Xavi Hernandez’s plans and the club need to free up space on their wage bill.

Pjanic has attracted interest from Italy and France, but clubs are unwilling to meet his lofty wages. And, as a result, the 32-year-old is reportedly prepared to stay put at Camp Nou even though he will not be playing regularly.

However, Al-Nassr might have now come up with a solution for Barcelona as they are interested in Pjanic and are willing to hand him a lucrative contract. The Asian giants have the financial wherewithal to offer Pjanic a handsome salary and have presented him with an offer worth around €7-8 million per year. Whether he is willing to accept that offer and move to the Middle East remains to be seen.

Barcelona ready to terminate Moussa Wague’s contract

While Barcelona continue to look for suitors for Miralem Pjanic, they are looking to terminate the contract and release one of their unwanted players in Moussa Wague. Indeed, AS reports that the Catalan giants are considering offering the ‘letter of freedom’ to the Senegalese defender, who has had a torrid past year or so due to injuries.

Wague signed for Barcelona in 2018 from Belgian outfit KAS Eupen, linking up with the club’s B team at the time. He made his first-team debut in 2019 and played six times for the Catalans’ senior side before being loaned out to OGC Nice in January 2020.

Upon returning at the end of the season, the right-back was sent out on another loan spell the following summer as Wague signed for Greek outfit PAOK Salonika. However, a serious knee injury he suffered towards the end of 2020 saw the loan spell get cut short.

The 23-year-old spent more than a year on the sidelines and returned to fitness only in early 2022. However, Wague was not registered for Barcelona’s first team or for the B team, which means he has not played any form of football for almost 18 months now. His contract with the Blaugrana runs until 2023, but he does not feature in manager Xavi’s plans.

Wague has been permitted to not return to Barcelona’s pre-season camp and sort out his future. However, with him not having played for over a year, there is very little interest in his services. It has compelled the Blaugrana into considering the prospect of mutual termination of his contract as the player might find takers if he became available as a free agent.

It is clear that Wague will leave Barcelona this summer. What now remains to be seen is whether it will be for a fee or as a free agent after having his contract terminated.
