West Ham United are reportedly in pole position to sign Juventus left-back Luca Pellegrini, who is valued at around €10 million.

A recent report from Spazio Juve has offered an update on Juventus’s transfer activity in the market. While the official announcements of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata’s exit have caught all the attention, another player expected to depart Turin this summer is Luca Pellegrini.

The left-back has been deemed surplus to the requirements by Juventus, who are holing out for a fee of around €10 million. West Ham United are among the clubs interested in securing his services. The Hammers are even in pole position to sign the player ahead of the new season, beating Monza in the chase.

Juventus’s desire to offload Pellegrini comes in the midst of rumours swirling around the club’s potential capture of Andrea Cambiaso. The 22-year-old left-back is expected to join the Bianconeri from Genoa, adding more depth in the wide defensive position for coach Massimiliano Allegri. It should simultaneously leave Pellegrini trailing behind in the pecking order.

Formerly of AS Roma, the 23-year-old has struggled for prominence since joining Juventus in 2019. Pellegrini has made only 21 competitive appearances for the club in the three years, which included two loan spells at Cagliari and Genoa respectively. The young full-back was not favoured by Allegri even when first-choice option Alex Sandro was struggling with form last season.

As such, a move away from Turin appears to be the most logical option for Pellegrini, with West Ham more than willing to hand him the opportunity to showcase his talents at the highest level of football.

The Hammers have two options at left-back at the moment. But coach David Moyes wants to find a more attacking alternative to Aaron Cresswell, while Arthur Masuaku is yet to win over the trust of the Scotsman. It has compelled West Ham to enter the market for a new left-back in the summer.

West Ham have been linked with a move for David Raum, but the German international’s astounding price tag has understandably forced the club to find other alternatives in the market. That is where Pellegrini could prove to be an interesting option.

With just 69 appearances in Serie A, the Italian international does not provide much experience at the highest level of football. But Pellegrini has shown tremendous potential and at the age of just 23, he could prove to be a wise long-term investment for West Ham this summer.
