Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign Murray Campbell, who is also a target for Crystal Palace.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the latest club to register their interest in Murray Campbell. The tennage prodigy currently plies his trade with St. Mirren and the Scottish under-16 side and is regarded as one of the gifted young players in his homeland.

The defender is currently training with St. Mirren’s first team during pre-season. He is expected to be handed a professional contract by the Scottish club in the near future. However, several Premier League clubs are hoping to lure him away from his homeland before he pens a new deal with the club.

Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs keen on securing his services ahead of the new season. They are joined by Crystal Palace in the race to sign the youngster, while clubs like Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are involved in the equation as well.

A defender by trade, Campbell has raised many eyebrows in Scotland with his performances in the youth competitions. He has even represented his nation until the under-16 level, making him one of the most sought-after talents in the country.

Fresh from the capture of Richarlison, Tottenham have appeared quite active in the ongoing summer transfer window. At the same time, they have also shown the desire to strengthen their options in the youth department as coach Antonio Conte and managerial director Fabio Paratici looks to rebuild the team from scratch.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have emerged as the mecca for budding young players over the past twelve months. Under the leadership of Patrick Vieira, players such as Marc Guehi, Michael Olise and Conor Gallagher have flourished. It has made the Eagles a desirable option for any young player in Britain, with Malcolm Ebiowei their latest acquisition.

As far as Murray Campbell is concerned, the Scot could fancy a move to both Tottenham and Crystal Palace. But at this point of his career, the youngster does not have much reason to leave St. Mirren as he is yet to even garner any professional experience and will only have to continue playing in the youth competitions if he does make the switch to England.

In contrast, a prolonged stay at St. Mirren could hand him the opportunity to play in the Scottish Premiership in the coming season. It could go a long way in helping him hone his skills before the teenage sensation takes the next step in his career.
