Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly weighing up a €15 million move for Villarreal wing-back Pervis Estupinan.

According to Goal, Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Pervis Estupinan. The Villarreal starlet has become the desired target for the Premier League outfit, who are looking to shore up their options at the back ahead of the new season. Spurs are even willing to fork out €15 million for the full-back’s services.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Estupinan is part of coach Antonio Conte’s plans to add some quality depth at the back in order to compete for the Premier League title in the coming season. In addition to the Villarreal full-back, the club have also targeted Barcelona misfit Clement Lenglet, who is closing in on a switch to north London.

Formerly of Watford, Estupinan has been a part of Villarreal since the summer of 2020, when he joined the club from La Liga for a fee of around €16 million. The wing-back has enjoyed immense success under the leadership of former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, who has utilised his strengths wisely.

Regarded as a workhouse out wide, the Ecuadorian predominantly features on the left-hand side of the pitch. Estupinan is adept at providing width out wide and can take the opposition by surprise using his electric pace. It makes him an ideal fit for Antonio Conte’s tactical system at Tottenham that revolves heavily around wing-backs.

From a tactical perspective, Estupinan could be an ideal alternative for Sergio Reguilon. The Spaniard is facing an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and was reportedly a target for Manchester United earlier in the summer. His potential exit could pave the way for Estupinan settle in nicely at Spurs and become the club’s main left-back next season.

The Villarreal starlet, though, may still have to compete with new signing Perisic for a place in the Tottenham starting eleven. But at the age of 24, he has time on his side and the potential to become an asset for the Londoners in the years to come.

With almost 100 appearances in La Liga and 26 caps for the Ecuadorian national team, the former Watford starlet also offers a vast experience at the highest level of football. And for a fee of just €16 million, Estupinan could prove to be nothing less than a bargain for Tottenham this summer.
