Barcelona have reportedly submitted a third offer worth €45 million for Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski.

According to BILD journalist Tobi Altschaffl, Barcelona have lodged a third bid for the signing of Bayern Munich centre-forward Robert Lewandowski after seeing two offers being shot down by the German giants.

Barcelona have made Lewandowski their top priority for the ongoing summer transfer window. The 33-year-old is one of the most prolific goalscorers in the game currently, and is coming on the back of another exceptional campaign in which he scored 50 goals across all competitions, helping Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski is entering the final year of his contract with Bayern Munich and has made it clear that he does not wish to sign a new deal. The 33-year-old has his heart set on a summer move to Barcelona and has already agreed personal terms with the Catalan giants over a three-year contract.

However, Bayern Munich have been reluctant to play ball and continue to insist that the Poland captain is not for sale this summer. Barcelona, for their part, have not been discouraged and have been making attempts one after the other to sign Lewandowski.

Reports claimed that Barcelona had made an opening bid of around €32.5 million, to which Bayern Munich did not respond. The Catalans returned with an improved offer of €35 million, plus add-ons, which was shot down by the German champions, who remain firm that their ace goalscorer is not for sale.

Now Barcelona have made a third proposal for Lewandowski as they continue to push for the signing of the 33-year-old striker. As per the report, the Blaugrana have raised their offer to €40 million, plus another €5 million in bonuses, to convince Bayern Munich to part ways with the Poland international.

The report adds that Bayern Munich are yet to respond to the offer from Barcelona, but talks are believed to have taken place between the two clubs, which could be perceived as a positive sign by Barcelona.

The Blaugrana wish to rise back to the top and unseat Real Madrid from their throne and see Lewandowski as the ideal man to lead their project under Xavi Hernandez. Whether they can convince Bayern Munich to offload the striker remains to be seen.
