Barcelona will reportedly not enter the race to re-sign Neymar from PSG, with their economic situation ruling them out of contention for the Brazilian forward.

According to reputed Brazilian journalist Marcel Bechler, Paris Saint-Germain will look to offload Neymar in the summer transfer window, but the Brazilian international is happy to stay at Parc des Princes. However, Barcelona will not vie for Neymar’s signature if he leaves PSG ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Neymar has always been a trailblazer in his career, and his world-record move worth €222 million from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain changed the transfer market forever. But the 30-year-old has not been a resounding success he wanted to be at PSG when he arrived at Parc des Princes half a decade ago.

While Neymar has a solid record for PSG, with 100 goals and 60 assists in 144 appearances thus far, he has been a frustrating figure as he has barely ever completed over 20 league games in a season in the last five years. And the Brazilian forward faces an uncertain future at PSG heading into the summer transfer window, with Les Parisiens considering selling him.

Recent comments from PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi suggested the Ligue 1 champions were ready to offload the former Barcelona forward in the summer transfer window. And according to Marcelo Bechler, PSG will listen to offers for Neymar but will leave the final decision on his future to the player himself.

At the same time, Bechler has ruled Barcelona out of the equation, with the Blaugrana not having enough funds to sign the 30-year-old. The latest development comes in the wake of recent reports that had claimed that intermediaries had offered Neymar to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Neymar could be a solid addition to the Barcelona squad amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Ousmane Dembele, Memphis Depay and Martin Braithwaite. While Robert Lewandowski is Barcelona’s priority target to bolster the centre-forward options, the Blaugrana will need to sign a wide forward if Depay and Dembele leave.

With Raphinha closing in on joining Chelsea, Neymar could have been a top-notch signing for the Catalan giants. But Barcelona will not pursue a move for the PSG forward, with their economic difficulties forcing them to look away from their former star player. As for Neymar, the Brazilian international is in no hurry to leave PSG and could remain at Parc des Princes beyond the summer.
