Tyrell Malacia is prepared to accept Manchester United’s proposal after the Premier League giants hijacked Lyon’s move for the Dutch left-back.

According to L’Equipe, Tyrell Malacia is on the verge of accepting Manchester United’s contract offer after the Premier League club saw a quickfire bid get accepted by Feyenoord this week. The left-back looked closer to joining Lyon but is now set to move to Old Trafford in a €15 million deal.

Manchester United fans have be dismayed all summer about a lack of signings, and all of a sudden, the Red Devils are on the verge of making two important acquisitions. The very recent surprise was Tyrell Malacia’s chase, as they managed to hijack Lyon’s move for the left-back.

Lyon had a full agreement with Feyenoord for the Dutch full-back, but Manchester United managed to make an improved proposal that bettered the offer presented by the French giants. The Ligue 1 giants are understandably furious with the outcome, as Malacia was set to undergo a medical in France.

Upon further probing, it became clear that Malacia shared the same agent as prospective Manchester United signing Frenkie De Jong. The Barcelona midfielder is close to joining Manchester United after talks progressed between the two clubs in the last few days.

Lyon tried to get back in the race by offering an additional fee of €1 million, but that was not enough for Feyenoord to consider. Manchester United agreed on a deal worth €15 million plus €2 million in bonuses. The Dutch outfit were content with the proposal.

Malacia has reportedly informed Lyon of his desire to join Manchester United, and he will accept the proposal presented by the Premier League heavyweights. The 22-year-old could be close to becoming the club’s first summer signing; compatriot de Jong could join in the coming days.

Manchester United are vying for more signings and remain in close contact with Ajax for Brazilian winger Antony. They remain in the hunt for more players, as it seems the summer plans are steadily coming to fruition.

Malacia could be a shrewd signing for Manchester United, as the Dutchman could be a solid solution for their troubled left-back problem. Luke Shaw did not manage to stay fit last season, while Alex Telles put in some disastrous performances in the campaign, and the club are open to selling the latter.
