La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly closely monitoring the progress of Gonzalo Sosa, a target for Barcelona and Manchester United.
According to a report by the Argentine edition of AS, Gonzalo Sosa is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the future. The 17-year-old Racing Club de Avellaneda wonderkid is also a target for several other European bigwigs, including Barcelona and Manchester United.
Gonzalo Sosa is one of the most promising young attackers in Argentine, with the teenage prodigy making swift progress in the youth setup at Racing Club de Avellaneda. The Argentine whizkid has spent most of his formative years with Racing and is already a member of the club’s under-20 team despite his tender years.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, the 17-year-old has made an impression with his vision and ability to find teammates in pockets of space. That is why he has also drawn comparisons with Argentine legend Juan Roman Riquelme while capturing the attention of some of the most high-profile clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.
Reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid are renowned for constantly foraying into the South American market to sign the most promising young prodigies for their youth and reserve teams before promoting them to the senior side. Such an outlook has fetched Real Madrid current stars Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Jr. and Federico Valverde. And Sosa is also a viable target for Los Blancos for several months.
As for Barcelona, the Blaugrana, like arch-rival Real Madrid, often look to sign young prospects from South America, although they have recently focused on blooding in Spanish whizkids. But with Endrick recently emerging on Barcelona’s radar, the Catalan giants are also focusing on other countries in South America, with Sosa an option worth considering.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s pursuit of Sosa stems from the ever-evolving status of their youth teams. The Red Devils might be in the doldrums at the first-team level, but they never stop signing the brightest young prospects in Europe and beyond for their youth setup. And Sosa could be the latest wonderkid to join Manchester United.
Apart from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also tracking Sosa’s progress. But the Merengues seem to be the front-runners to secure the services of the 17-year-old, with the rest of the clubs playing catch-up.
