La Liga champions Real Madrid are not interested in pursuing a move for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Mohamed Salah is not the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Egyptian forward looks set to play for Liverpool in the 2022/23 season amid uncertainties surrounding his future.

Mohamed Salah has embarked on a transformational journey since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in July 2017. The 30-year-old has gone from being an exciting young wide-attacker to one of the most prolific forwards in Europe. And over the last five years, he has played a pivotal role in earning Liverpool trophy after trophy, including the elusive Premier League title.

Salah has a brilliant record for Liverpool, racking up 156 goals and 63 assists in 254 outings for the Reds thus far. But the Egyptian forward’s contract situation has left Liverpool in a spot of bother, as he will enter the final year of his contract later this week on July 1. Such a development has captured the attention of Real Madrid.

The links with Real Madrid stem from the rising uncertainties surrounding the future of Marco Asensio. The Spanish international might depart from the Santiago Bernabeu amid little movement on the renewal front, with his current contract running out next year, much like Salah’s deal with Liverpool.

So while Real Madrid did not want to invest in an attacking reinforcement after missing out on Kylian Mbappe, Asensio might force them to delve into the market. Salah thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, with recent reports claiming Liverpool had been warming up to the idea of selling him this summer.

But Real Madrid will not pursue a move for Salah, as per Defensa Central, meaning he will remain at Anfield beyond the summer transfer window, like he had suggested last month. So Liverpool could lose Salah as a free agent next summer, as he looks set to represent them this coming season.
