Leeds United are considering a move for RB Salzburg’s Mohamed Camara as an alternative for top target Tyler Adams.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are interested in exploring a move for Mohamed Camara as a potential replacement for exit-bound midfielder Kalvin Phillips. However, the Red Bull Salzburg ace is considered an expensive option by the Whites.

Leeds United are in for a tricky summer as they are set to lose two of their important players, and director Victor Orta has key decisions on his hands. The Whites narrowly escaped relegation on the season’s final day and have begun preparations to improve their squad. Leeds have already signed Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, and Marc Roca in this window, spending nearly £50 million in the process.

However, the news about losing two of their best players is likely to dampen the mood of the Elland Road faithful, as Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha are closing in on exits. Manchester City agreed on a fee with Leeds for Phillips, while the Brazilian is heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

Their sales will ensure funds for further transfers, although Orta will look to spend it wisely. Leeds are already looking at potential replacements for Raphinha and Phillips as utmost priority.

RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams has been identified as a top candidate to replace Phillips. Orta is in discussions with the USMNT star, who is valued at just over £15 million by Transfermarkt, an amount Leeds would be open to paying.

The major issue would be to convince the player that a move to Elland Road would be good for his careers, considering Adams has been linked with many big clubs. As an alternative, Leeds are looking at another Red Bull Salzburg star Mohamed Camara, after having raided the Austrians for Aaronson and Kristensen already.

However, the report states that Leeds consider Kamara a pricey option compared to Adams. Transfermarkt values Camara at around £25 million, which could be a sticking point for Leeds. However, the 22-year-old Malian midfielder could be an enticing target for the Whites, considering his age and potential.

Camara was a regular in the Salzburg side last season, featuring in 36 games in which he scored one goal and set up five more. As things stand, it’s unclear how much Salzburg would demand Camara. However, considering the interest is coming from a Premier League club, they may demand a steep asking price for the midfielder, who still has three years on his contract, with Leeds desperate for a Phillips replacement.
