Borja Mayoral is reportedly a target for newly-promoted Serie A club Monza, while teammate, Reinier Jesus, is being linked with a loan move to Benfica.
As per Defensa Central, Real Madrid forward Borja Mayoral has emerged as a transfer target for newly-promoted Serie A club AC Monza. Mayoral spent the last six months of the recently-concluded season with Getafe, scoring six goals and providing an assist.
The 25-year-old centre-forward was first sent on a two-year loan move to AS Roma, where he scored 18 goals and provided eight assists in 56 matches before being moved to Getafe for the second half of the 2021/22 season after he went down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
Mayoral is now set to return to Real Madrid after two years and is even ready to play second fiddle to Karim Benzema. However, a return to Serie A could be on the cards if the report by Defensa Central is anything to go by.
Newly-promoted Serie A club Monza are in the market for a new number nine and have set their sights on Mayoral, who has just a year left on his contract with Los Blancos. Monza CEO Adriano Galliani shares a good relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, which could facilitate the move.

Real Madrid attacking midfielder Reinier Jesus is set to return to the Spanish capital after spending two years on loan at Borussia Dortmund. In Germany, the 20-year-old prodigy scored once and assisted once in 39 matches, and was limited to appearances from the bench.
Real Madrid are keen to send the attacking midfielder out on another loan spell to continue his development, which has been hampered by sporadic appearances at Borussia Dortmund over the last two years. Los Blancos are aware that they will not be able to provide the Brazilian forward with first-team minutes.
Portuguese giants Benfica have emerged as a potential destination with the player’s entourage keen on making the move, as per Defensa Central. Jesus’s father has expressed his pleasure at his son being linked with a move to Benfica.
He said, “My son is enthusiastic, when he asks you for a club of the size of Benfica it is impossible not to be happy.” La Liga clubs Valencia and Real Betis have also been linked with a move for the 20-year-old, but the Brazilian prodigy seems destined to join Benfica this summer.
