Brighton and Hove Albion are eyeing talented Manchester City starlet Liam Delap on loan amidst Marc Cucurella negotiations.

According to the Daily Mail, Brighton and Hove Albion are seeking to land promising Manchester City starlet Liam Delap on loan in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old is the son of former Stoke City star Rory Delap and has emerged as a reliable goalscorer for the Manchester City youth sides. Delap has 35 goals and nine assists in just 36 appearances for the Cityzens’ Under-23 side. While he has struggled with injuries of late, the youngster’s ability hints at a bright future ahead of him.

Having impressed at the lower stages, Delap is now ready to try his hand at the senior level. Brighton could offer him just that should he move to the Amex in the summer. Graham Potter has proven to be a maverick of sorts in developing talent, and in Delap, he could hit the jackpot.

The arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez have now given Pep Guardiola enough options to sue upfront next season. This more or less hands Delap a barrier in his efforts of securing enough game time in the first XI at the Etihad Stadium. Given the promise he has shown so far, it is important that the youngster keeps playing to continue his development.

Manchester City are currently engaged in talks with Brighton for Marc Cucurella, and this could give the Seagulls a chance to add Delap to the negotiations. The youngster could be available on loan and will bolster the frontline at the Amex Stadium.

Neal Maupay is coming off a poor season while Danny Welbeck cannot be entrusted with the number nine position. Delap might be rough around the edges, but the ability is there for all to see. Playing for Brighton will also be a different experience for the 19-year-old who is used to performing week in, week out at the Etihad.

The opportunity to impress sans the burden of expectations might aid Delap in playing with more freedom at the Amex. This could potentially pave the way for him to establish himself as a prolific Premier League attacker in the years to come.
