Liverpool are not considering a move for Chelsea starlet Christian Pulisic even after the departure of Sadio Mane.

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are in the market for a new winger following the exit of Sadio Mane. They have set their sights on a few targets but Chelsea starlet Christian Pulisic is not thought to be among the players they are interested in this summer transfer window.

The report comes in the midst of Sadio Mane’s move to FC Bayern Munich which has created a massive void in the LFC frontline. In addition to the Senegalese international, the Reds are also set to lose Divock Origi to AC Milan, while Takumi Minamino is reportedly on the verge of joining AS Monaco.

In an attempt to soften the blow, Liverpool have roped in Darwin Nunez from SL Benfica while Fabio Carvalho was brought in from Fulham. But Jurgen Klopp believes he may require more depth going forward, especially considering the impact Mane had over Liverpool’s performances in the past few years.

However, it appears a move for Pulisic does not interest Klopp, even though the German tactician knows the Chelsea star quite well. Klopp was the head coach at Borussia Dortmund when Pulisic was making baby steps toward his ascension in professional football.

Years later, Pulisic is a well-established professional and shining beacon in US Soccer. But there is no doubting the fact that the former Dortmund starlet has endured a downfall of sorts over the past couple of years, especially due to lack of game-time and injuries.

As we head towards the new season, Thomas Tuchel is not likely to consider the USMNT star as a key part of his first team. It has led to widespread speculation over the attacker’s future, though no concrete suitors have emerged so far. Liverpool were reportedly targeting him as a potential replacement for Mane back in May.

But a lot has happened since, including the capture of Nunez. The Reds paid a fortune to secure the services of the Uruguayan international and with that in mind, it is likely the Premier League giants might look to target a younger, cost-effective alternative to provide cover in light of Mane, Origi and Minamino’s departure.

As for Pulisic, it is likely he will remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer. But his progress during the first half of the campaign could go a long way in deciding his future, and it won’t be surprising to see the 23-year-old American leaving the club in the January transfer window if things do not go according to the plan.
