Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly on the radar of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to leave Manchester United this summer, and Bayern Munich could be his next destination. The Bundesliga champions reportedly want to sign Ronaldo to replace Robert Lewandowski, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Earlier reports had claimed that Ronaldo was eager to see off his contract at Old Trafford. New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was also adamant about having the Portuguese at the club next season.

The 37-year-old still has a year left on his contract with the Red Devils after rejoining them from Juventus last summer. Ronaldo’s second stint with Manchester United started off in fine fashion, but things took a turn for the worse with both the player and the club struggling for consistency.

While the former Real Madrid star eventually picked up form, Manchester United continued to struggle under interim manager Ralf Rangnick. The club were well-placed in the race to finish top four but fell off to finish sixth and just manage a spot in the UEFA Europa League.

Ronaldo was first expected to leave after Manchester United’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, but reports suggested otherwise. However, he gave his Old Trafford future a reconsideration last week and has now decided to move on this summer.

Ronaldo’s decision was fuelled by Manchester United’s failure to add summer signings when rivals Liverpool and Manchester City have both made big additions. While the Citizens have signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, the Reds have added Darwin Nunez from SL Benfica.

Bayern Munich have emerged as potential suitors for Ronaldo. The Bavarian giants are set to lose Robert Lewandowski this summer, with Barcelona reportedly leading the race to sign the veteran Poland international.

Bayern Munich will provide Ronaldo with Champions League football and another realistic shot at winning the tournament again. The Manchester United talisman has already won five Champions League titles, four with Real Madrid and one with the Red Devils. Whether Bayern Munich land Ronaldo remains to be seen.
