Udinese striker Beto has reportedly emerged as a potential target for West Ham United this summer.

A recent report from 90 min has offered a detailed update on West Ham United’s pursuit of a new striker this summer. The Londoners are keeping tabs on several forwards across Europe, with one of them being Udinese frontman Beto.

West Ham’s list of attacking targets are headed by Italian forwards Giacomo Raspadori and Gianluca Scamacca. But the Hammers have also expressed the desire to sign Beto, who has enjoyed immense success in Serie A after joining Udinese on a season-long loan deal last summer.

The 24-year-old Portuguese forward amassed 11 goals in 28 Serie A appearances, helping Udinese achieve a mid-table finish in the league. Beto’s performances even convinced the Serie A outfit to fork out €7 million to make his loan deal from Portimonense permanent.

While Beto is technically expected to continue at Udinese in the coming season, there is a possibility he could be moved on in the summer, in lieu of a quick profit from Udinese’s perspective.

West Ham are the club keen on securing the services of the Portuguese striker. Standing at 1.94m, the 24-year-old has impressed David Moyes with his physical and aerial prowess in the final third. In addition to his physique, the striker has shown the ability to score goals at the highest level of football.

It makes him an ideal target for West Ham, who are currently in the market for a new number nine. The Hammers want to reduce the load off Michail Antonio, who struggled with both form and fitness this past season. The addition of Beto, to that end, could help Moyes resolve his side’s goalscoring problems.

The Portuguese striker can compete with Antonio for the number nine slot next season, while his physical traits should make him a tailor-made fit for the Premier League. However, the report indicates Beto is only being identified as an alternative to West Ham’s top targets in Raspadori and Scamacca.

Besides, Beto is likely to cost a fortune as Udinese have splashed out €7 million to attain his services and will be looking to make a significant profit if they are to let him go in the summer. A move to the London Stadium, therefore, remains an unlikely scenario for the 24-year-old, who will look to continue his performances in Serie A next term.
