Tottenham are reportedly out of the running for Christian Eriksen, as the Danish playmaker is yet to decide on his next move.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham seem to have cooled their interest in Christian Eriksen. The north Londoners ended their pursuit after a solitary conversation with the player’s agent, while the Danish midfielder is yet to decide on his future amid interest from Manchester United.
Christian Eriksen’s future has been the subject of intense debate over the last few days. The attacking midfielder garnered plenty of attention after he proved fitness and played brilliantly for Brentford after signing a short-term deal in January.
His efforts helped Brentford greatly from getting dragged into a relegation battle, and by signing only a short-term deal, Eriksen is free to choose his next move in the summer transfer window.
His displays have convinced some of the big Premier League outfits to offer him a medium to a long-term deal. As many as five clubs have shown an interest in Eriksen, including Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham and West Ham United.

The Hammers recently entered the chase after David Moyes felt Eriksen could be a smart addition at no cost. However, there are others like Tottenham in the running. Spurs were heavily reported to be interested in re-signing their former player, with Antonio Conte eyeing him as a quality depth option.
Meanwhile, Eriksen reportedly snubbed Manchester United’s advances, and it seemed like Tottenham had the upper hand, while Brentford were still in the running. But Eriksen is yet to make a concrete decision on his future, and he may not be hurrying to take the call.
However, Fabrizio Romano’s recent update suggests that Tottenham have reportedly bowed out of the race. Spurs had only one conversation with Eriksen’s representative and have since cooled their pursuit of the Danis midfielder.
Moreover, contrary to reports about Manchester United, the club and Brentford are still waiting on Eriksen’s answer over a role next season. The Danish international will have the upcoming World Cup in his mind, so playing regularly at his new club would be firmly on his agenda.

He could certainly achieve that at Brentford instead of joining his other suitors. However, in the context of the number of years he wants to continue playing football, a decision to join a bigger team may not be harmful to Eriksen, leaving Manchester United with a chance to land him.
