Real Madrid have reportedly reached ‘total agreement’ over a new contract for Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes, with an extension now imminent.

According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid are closing in on a new contract agreement with star attacker Rodrygo Goes, having reached ‘total agreement’ with the Brazilian’s camp. The 21-year-old is poised to sign a deal that will see him prolong his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu until the summer of 2028.

Signed from Santos FC in 2019, Rodrygo is regarded as one of the most exciting young forwards in the game currently. The Brazilian has had to bide his time at Real Madrid, though, and make the most of the opportunities that come his way, which he did during the 2021/22 campaign.

Rodrygo enjoyed the best season of his career last time out, as he finished with a tally of nine goals and ten assists from 49 matches in all competitions. The Brazilian international was key to Real Madrid’s triumph in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League as he scored vital goals in crucial fixtures.

Indeed, Rodrygo’s goal in the Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea and his stoppage-time brace versus Manchester City in the semi-final have already helped him attain cult status among the fans. And Real Madrid are now set to reward the young forward with an improved contract for his contributions.

Rodrygo’s current deal with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2025, with the Brazilian believed to pocketing a sum of €4 million per year. And now, the 21-year-old could be in a position to double his earnings as Los Blancos have reached a total agreement with the player’s representatives over a new contract.

As per the report, Rodrygo’s new deal will keep him tied to Real Madrid until the summer of 2028, while his wages will be bumped up to around €7-8 million per year, on a similar scale to fellow Brazilian attacker, Vinicius Junior, who is also poised to sign a new contract with the reigning Spanish and European champions.

Currently on vacation, Rodrygo is expected to complete the contract extension process as soon as he returns for pre-season. Rodrygo has proven his worth for Carlo Ancelotti’s team despite having had to make do with a backup role. But, given his performances in the last season and the new bumper contract he is set to receive, a more prominent role is on the cards for the Brazilian next term.
