Southampton have approached Liverpool for Neco Williams, who also features on the radars of multiple other Premier League clubs.

According to Sky Sports, Southampton have approached Liverpool to enquire about the availability of Neco Williams. The young right-back could depart Anfield in the summer after the arrival of Calvin Ramsey from Aberdeen, as multiple Premier League clubs chase the Welsh international.

Liverpool are considering offers for Neco Williams, as Jurgen Klopp sees the young right-back as a source to generate funds. There is a good value for the Welsh international in the current market, and the Reds are ready to move him on this summer as he does not feature in the plans of the manager. Indeed, Liverpool have already signed Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen as a possible replacement.

Williams spent the second half of last season on loan with Fulham, making 14 appearances in the Championship. His performances have prompted Marco Silva to urge the club into signing the right-back permanently, although there is tough competition from other Premier League sides.

Fulham are supposedly leading the race alongside Nottingham forest for a company in pursuit of the full-back. The two clubs have reportedly submitted offers ranging between £12-15 million.

But Sky Sports insists Liverpool are seeking around £20 million for the 21-year-old, which may put him out of reach of Fulham and Forest. Now, Southampton have emerged as the newest contender to sign Williams, with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side reportedly approaching the Reds to enquire about his availability.

Tino Livramento is the Saints’ current first-choice at right-back. However, the youngster’s injury issues last season have prompted Hasenhuttl to bring in another player. Furthermore, the former Chelsea starlet is primed for a big future and remains on the radars of some big clubs.

Neco Williams could be a solid replacement if Livramento departs, while he would be a viable competitor for the young full-back if he ends up staying. The question would be whether the Saints will be willing to pay Liverpool’s asking price. Southampton might look to negotiate the price down, although Liverpool have built a reputation for extracting top value for their young stars in the past.

Williams could be a top-quality addition to either of those three teams. Forest are seeking him to replace Djed Spence, who is likely to join Tottenham, while Fulham are keen on continuity with the player. Southampton have a track record of developing young players under Hasenhuttl. So, the 21-year-old will have a major decision on his hands this summer.
