Vinicius Jr. has reportedly rejected a lucrative contract offer from Paris Saint-Germain to remain at Real Madrid beyond the summer transfer window.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Mario Cortegana, Paris Saint-Germain attempted to lure Vinicius Jr. to Parc des Princes in the summer transfer window by offering him a lucrative contract, an attractive signing bonus and business opportunities in Qatar. But the Brazilian forward chose to remain at Real Madrid.

Vinicius Jr. has come a long way since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo as a prodigious forward in July 2018. The 21-year-old might still have his best years ahead of him, but he has already become a pivotal figure for Real Madrid, particularly making swift progress in the recently-concluded season.

The Brazilian international enjoyed an excellent 2021/22 season, amassing 22 goals and 20 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions. Vinicius Jr. also scored the match-winning goal in the UEFA Champions League final. But while he has been brilliant for Real Madrid, PSG attempted to prise him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

The interest from PSG cropped up last year when Kylian Mbappe’s long-term future was up in the air amid widespread links with Real Madrid. But by the time the season ended, Vinicius Jr. might have emerged as a long-term replacement for compatriot Neymar, with Mbappe extending his stay at Parc des Princes.

Neymar faces an uncertain future at PSG, who would like to cash in on the former Barcelona attacker in the summer transfer window. And Vinicius Jr. could have been a top-class replacement at PSG. Les Parisiens were ready to hand the Real Madrid forward a lucrative contract worth €40 million per year.

In addition, the Ligue 1 champions were also ready to offer him an attractive signing bonus and business opportunities in Qatar. But Vinicius Jr. had no interest in moving to PSG and is now on the cusp of committing his long-term future to Real Madrid.

While the Brazilian international’s new wages will look dwarfed in front of the €40 million-a-year deal, he remains committed to Real Madrid. And after becoming a talismanic figure for Los Blancos, Vinicius Jr. will unlikely depart from the Santiago Bernabeu anytime soon.
