Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on the contract situation of Manchester United prodigy Alejandro Garnacho.

According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid are closely monitoring Manchester United and Argentine whizkid Alejandro Garnacho, who will be out of contract with the Premier League club in 2023.

Born in Madrid, Garnacho spent the early parts of his youth career at Real Madrid’s rivals, Atletico Madrid. The young winger was snapped up by Manchester United in the summer of 2020 and he has made rapid strides through the ranks at the English club.

Garnacho has made 31 appearances for Manchester United’s Under-18 side, scoring 16 times and assisting eight goals. The 17-year-old winger played an integral role in their FA Youth Cup success in the 2021/22 campaign, even scoring a brace in the final. He has also broken into the Under-23 setup for the Red Devils, bagging three goals and an assist in 12 matches.

Garnacho was handed his senior debut by interim manager Ralf Rangnick towards the end of the season, with the Argentine youth international making two appearances for the Manchester United first team.

Regarded as one of the brightest young prospects to have come through the ranks in recent years, Manchester United have big plans for Garnacho and are planning to hand him a bigger role in the first team in the upcoming campaign under new manager Erik ten Hag.

But, before that, Manchester United need to resolve Garnacho’s contract situation. The 17-year-old is entering the final year of his current deal with the Red Devils, and his situation has piqued the interest of several clubs across Europe. Juventus are already planning a Bosman move for the teenage wonderkid in 2023, with Real Madrid now joining the race for the youngster.

Real Madrid have shown interest in strengthening their youth ranks in recent transfer windows as they plan to build stars for the future from within the team. The reigning Spanish and European champions have brought in several youngsters with potential to add to their roster, with Noel Lopez being the latest such acquisition.

Real Madrid now have their sights set on Garnacho. They are keeping a close watch on his contract situation as they plot to swoop in if he does not pen a new deal with Manchester United. Even though he represents Argentina on the international stages, the 17-year-old would not count as a non-EU player as he was born in Spain, which would make it easier for Real Madrid to thrust him into the senior team right away.

Manchester United, for their part, are planning to offer Garnacho a new contract. But with the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid circling to swoop him away, he will have his options to choose from if the teenager decides not to sign an extension.
