Newcastle United are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby over a summer move.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle United are eyeing a summer swoop for Moussa Diaby. The Premier League outfit are in talks with the explosive Bayer Leverkusen winger over a possible transfer. The Bundesliga giants are anticipating the attacker’s exit from Bay Arena and started their search for replacements.

Leverkusen are facing pressure to offload at least one of their star players in the summer transfer window. With Patrik Schick signing a new contract and Florian Wirtz set to remain at Bay Arena, all the signs are pointing towards the exit of Diaby. The Frenchman has been in electric form in the Bundesliga and has attracted the interest of many top clubs in Europe.

Formerly of the PSG youth academy, Diaby has racked up 35 goals and 37 assists since joining Leverkusen in 2019. Aside from his productivity, the winger has made an impression with his pace out wide, coupled with his ability to glide through tight spaces, making him a well-rounded forward.

Arsenal were linked with a move for Diaby earlier in the summer. But with the Gunners prioritising a move for Gabriel Jesus, Newcastle United have emerged as the potential suitor for the explosive Leverkusen star.

Newcastle United have been targeting the Frenchman for quite some time now as the club rate him highly due to the quality he offers to the table. With Miguel Almiron facing an uncertain future at the club, Newcastle are also in the market for a wide player who can offer the X-factor going forward and offer support to the centre-forwards.

And Moussa Diaby fits the bill perfectly. The 22-year-old’s pace and trickery, coupled with his productivity could help him build a solid attacking partnership with fellow Frenchmen Allan Saint-Maximin and potentially Hugo Ekitike, although the move for the Reims forward has stalled lately.

The report suggests Newcastle United are clear to sign Diaby in the summer, especially with Bayer Leverkusen looking for replacements for the forward. They have recently targeted PSV superstar Cody Gakpo, although Die Werkself may face stiff competition from Premier League giants Arsenal.
