La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a move in the 2024 summer transfer window for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Erling Haaland is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window of 2024. The Merengues view the Manchester City striker as a long-term successor for Karim Benzema, with a €150 million release clause set to activate in two years.

Erling Haaland has become one of the best strikers in Europe on the back of three years of top-class performances for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian forward saw his stock skyrocketing during a two-and-a-half-year stint with Dortmund, where he amassed 84 goals and 20 assists in 88 appearances.

The 21-year-old become a hot property ahead of the summer transfer window, with Manchester City winning the race to sign him. But Haaland has already become a target for another club before he has even kicked a ball for the Premier League champions, with Real Madrid plotting a move for the 2024 summer transfer window.

Real Madrid had been keen on signing Haaland this summer before ending their pursuit of the new Manchester City striker. But the Spanish giants need to lay down a succession plan for Karim Benzema, with the French international in the twilight of his career.

Benzema has been the most influential player for Real Madrid in the last four years, but the fact that he is well into his thirties will not be lost on Carlo Ancelotti and Florentino Perez. Real Madrid will thus need to scour the market for a long-term successor for Benzema.

Haaland has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, who will look to sign him in the 2024 summer transfer window. Haaland has a €150 million release clause in his Manchester City contract which will activate in two years.

With the Premier League champions having no control over keeping Haaland from 2024 onwards, Real Madrid will fancy the prospects of securing the services of the 21-year-old in two years. It will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming seasons, with Haaland already a target for Real Madrid over a €150 million move.

Real Madrid announcing their plans to sign Haaland whilst at the same time having their president demanding UEFA take action against Manchester City FC for breaching FFP reveals their ruthlessness, jealousy and abuse of power. Their plan is to have City investigated and found guilty of FFP breaches and with City wounded by being fined, threatened with sanctions etc then Real will buy Haaland they hope in a ‘distressed sale’. Ugly. Conflict of interest exists with Perez, abuse of power, possible ‘soft racism’ – as what else connects PSG to Manchester City other than money? Yep. This behaviour should be called out for what it is.
