Chelsea are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling this summer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have devised a plan to sign Raheem Sterling this summer. The Premier League giants are confident of sealing the deal for the Manchester City forward, who faces an uncertain future at the club and could be allowed to depart from the Etihad this summer.

Sterling’s current contract at the Etihad expires at the end of next season, meaning this will be Manchester City’s final opportunity to cash in on the forward. They are expected to sanction his sale if they receive offers of around €35 million as they look to balance the books after spending a fortune on Erling Haaland.

Sterling is not the only Manchester City forward likely to leave Etihad this summer, as Gabriel Jesus has also been subjected to a move away from Manchester. Curiously, the Brazilian international has been linked with a move to Chelsea as well, although Arsenal appear to be the firm favourites owing to the player’s relationship with Mikel Arteta.

It has led Chelsea to prioritise a move for Sterling this summer as they look to rebuild their goalscoring unit following the failures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. Neither of the two strikers has been able to impress Thomas Tuchel, which has left the German tactician frustrated. He has even demanded the exit of the two players in the summer transfer window.

Inter Milan are reportedly keen on re-signing Lukaku on a loan deal, whereas a return to the Bundesliga was mooted for Werner. Their potential exit should pave the way for Chelsea to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

Although the Englishman is not a traditional centre-forward, he is rated highly by Tuchel due to his versatility in the final third. Aside from his favoured left-wing position, the former Liverpool starlet is capable of operating in a central role, as he has often done for Manchester City in recent years.

Sterling’s flexibility in the final third makes him an appealing target for Tuchel, who will be further impressed by the Englishman’s track record of 109 goals and 77 assists in 309 Premier League matches. And for a fee of just €35 million, the Manchester City could prove to be a massive bargain for Chelsea this summer.
