Arsenal are reportedly set to open fresh talks with Manchester City for Gabriel Jesus as the Gunners step up their pursuit of the Brazilian.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s column on Caught Offside, Arsenal are set to open fresh discussions with Manchester City to sign Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian is at the top of the Gunners’ shortlist, and Mikel Arteta’s side could table a new offer in the coming days.

Gabriel Jesus emerged as Arsenal’s No.1 target as soon as the season concluded, as Mikel Arteta identified the Manchester City forward as the perfect striker to strengthen his side. The Brazilian intends to depart the club, and the Premier League champions are open to offers.

There have been several ups and downs in the pursuit of the Brazilian. Earlier it was understood that Arsenal could get their man for a reasonable fee considering Jesus only has a year remaining on his deal. However, Manchester City’s asking price had complicated the chase.

With Edu in talks with the striker’s representatives, it is understood that Jesus has an offer on the table, which he is ready to accept. The agreement between Arsenal and Manchester City is all that remains to wrap up the deal. The Gunners have been reluctant earlier to pay the £55 million asking price, which has reportedly been slashed considerably.

The impasse between Arsenal and Manchester City and Jesus going away with Brazil for the recent international round of games allowed other clubs to swoop in and register their interest. Tottenham, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all reportedly keen on signing Jesus, but the Brazilian is understood to want to play under Arteta.

With the international break now over, Arsenal are reportedly set to open fresh talks with Manchester City. This is a period where the Gunners could finally make an offer suitable enough for the Premier League champions to agree on.

With the price now being slashed, Arsenal could finally find middle ground with Manchester City and prepare to bring Jesus to the Emirates. As things stand, the Gunners are the front-runners in the chase, ans they could wrap up the signing in the coming days.

Jesus could be a solid signing for Arteta as he looks to take Arsenal to the next level. The primary objective would still be to finish in the top four, although it is vital the Gunners strengthen considerably, considering their rivals are already on course to bring in reinforcements.
