Barcelona are facing the risk of missing out on the signing of Alberto Moleiro as Villarreal and Eintracht Frankfurt have made offers for the Spanish prodigy.

According to journalist Toni Juanmarti for Relevo, Barcelona will need to step up their efforts to sign Las Palmas wonderkid Alberto Moleiro as Villarreal and Eintracht Frankfurt have submitted offers to land the 18-year-old prospect.

Moleiro has been with Las Palmas since 2018, when he joined the club’s youth setup. The 18-year-old versatile attacking midfielder broke into the first-team setup last year and went on to feature 38 times for the lower league outfit, scoring three goals and setting up one more.

A versatile player, who can play as a No. 10 or out on the flanks, Moleiro has been heralded as the next best prospect coming through at Las Palmas after Pedri. And Barcelona, who swooped the latter away from the club in 2019, are planning to do the same with Moleiro as well this summer.

Like with Pedri, Barcelona wish to sign Moleiro and loan him back to Las Palmas for a season before integrating him into their squad in 2023. Considering the success they have achieved by placing their faith in youth in recent years, such a move would make sense for the Blaugrana, from a sporting sense as well as financially.

To that end, Barcelona have held talks with Las Palmas to lure the 18-year-old attacking prodigy. However, according to the latest reports, the Catalan heavyweights are running the risk of being left behind in the race to sign Moleiro, as other interested parties have emerged and have taken a step to land the Spanish prospect.

Indeed, as reported by Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona’s La Liga rivals Villarreal are one of the clubs interested in Moleiro, along with UEFA Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt, who defeated the Blaugrana on their way to lifting the trophy last season. Both clubs have already lodged their offers with Las Palmas to sign Moleiro as well.

So, it is time for Barcelona to decide whether they intend to pursue the 18-year-old. If they do, Xavi Hernandez’s side must act swiftly before either Villarreal or Eintracht Frankfurt end up signing Moleiro.
