Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to offer €30 million plus Davinson Sanchez in the deal to sign Alessandro Bastoni.

According to a report from Calciomercatoweb, Alessandro Bastoni has emerged as the transfer priority for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the upcoming summer window. Although the player’s agent has reiterated the defender’s desire to stay at the club, the Premier League giants are keen on luring him to north London.

Tottenham have even prepared an offer of around €30 million for Bastoni. As part of the deal. they are willing to include Davinson Sanchez, thus handing Inter a readymade replacement for their revered Italian centre-back, who has won the hearts with his performances at Inter in the past couple of seasons.

Bastoni’s quality as a ball-playing defender who is adept at playing the ball forward and even operating as a left-back, at times, makes him an ideal fit for Spurs’ style of play under Antonio Conte.

Currently lacking the presence of a reliable ball-playing left-sided centre-back, the Tottenham coach had to resort to using Ben Davies in the role this past season. But that could change following the addition of Bastoni, giving Cristian Romero and Eric Dier a reliable defensive partner.

In addition to tactical compatibility, it is worth mentioning Conte and Bastoni have worked together in the past. The Italian tactician, in fact, has played a key role in handing the youngster his professional breakthrough and the player could certainly look forward to a potential reunion in north London.

Performing in the Premier League could significantly increase Bastoni’s chances of becoming an undisputed starter for Italy in the near future while helping him earn a lucrative salary. He is also likely to find more success working under Conte, who is well aware of his strengths and knows how to utilise him properly.

Signing Bastoni from Inter, though, could be the trickiest part. Tottenham have initiated discussions with the player, but the Nerazzurri will be keen on keeping hold of their prized defensive asset, especially amid uncertainty over the future of his defensive teammates in Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar.

Both the experienced centre-backs have been courted by Chelsea, while other clubs such as PSG are involved in the pursuit as well. Even Tottenham could attempt to sign either of them, in an attempt to add more experience to the table.

Inter, therefore, will be reluctant in offloading Bastoni and revolve their defensive line around the Italian in the future, despite the chance of receiving Davinson Sanchez as part of the deal from the north London outfit.
