Barcelona could reportedly offer a part-exchange deal to sign 25-year-old Spanish international Carlos Soler from Valencia this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication AS, Barcelona recently met with Jorge Mendes to discuss the futures of several players, including Carlos Soler. And the Catalan giants are prepared to offer €25 million in addition to a player to sign the Spanish international from Valencia in the summer transfer window.

Carlos Soler has come leaps and bounds since making his first-team debut for boyhood club Valencia several years ago. The 25-year-old is now widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in La Liga, with the player also establishing a foothold in the Spanish national side.

The Spanish international has turned out 222 times for Valencia thus far, chipping in with 35 goals and 31 assists. But Soler’s contract situation has left Los Che in a spot of bother, with his deal set to run out next year. Such a situation has captured the attention of several high profile clubs across Europe, including Barcelona.

The interest from Barcelona stems from the rampant uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Frenkie de Jong. The Blaugrana might reluctantly have to cash in on the 25-year-old Dutch midfielder in the summer transfer window, especially with the club’s vice-president of finance Eduard Romeu recently revealing that Barcelona will need €500 million to end the financial rut.

With the financial turmoil forcing Barcelona to consider de Jong’s sale, signing a cost-effective replacement will be crucial. Soler is thus a viable target for Barcelona, with the Spanish international reportedly keen on joining the Catalan club.

Recent reports have also claimed that Valencia might be open to selling Soler amid their financial woes. And things might start moving quickly, with Barcelona recently meeting Jorge Mendes to hash out a plan to sign the 25-year-old midfielder. And the Catalan giants are ready to offer a part-exchange deal to land Soler.

Really? €25 million is already to much for a player who is in his final year of contract.
