Real Madrid will likely face defeat in the pursuit of Gabriel Jesus, with the 25-year-old Brazilian international expecting to stay in the Premier League.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid will face an uphill task in the race to sign Gabriel Jesus. The 25-year-old Brazilian international expects to remain in the Premier League if he leaves Manchester City in the summer transfer window amid interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Gabriel Jesus has endured a hit-and-miss spell in England since joining Manchester City from Palmeiras in January 2017. The player has often shown immense potential but has been too inconsistent for his good, forcing Pep Guardiola to use him as a rotation option instead of a pivotal first-choice figure.

Nonetheless, the 25-year-old enjoyed a solid 2021/22 season, amassing 13 goals and 12 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. But Jesus faces an uncertain future at Manchester City after the arrival of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez. And the Brazilian international’s contract situation – he has one year left on his deal – has alerted several European bigwigs, including Real Madrid.

Recent reports have claimed that Jesus’s representatives offered him to Real Madrid, with Los Blancos being receptive to the offer. The Spanish giants are weighing up the prospect of swooping in for the Manchester City forward amid his desire to play regular football ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Real Madrid could offer Jesus regular game-time, considering the right-wing berth is up for grabs. So while the Brazilian international could arrive as a replacement for either Luka Jovic or Mariano Diaz, his versatility would enable Carlo Ancelotti to use him across the frontline.

Reports this week even suggested that Jesus is open to joining Real Madrid. But according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old expects to remain in the Premier League if he leaves Manchester City, thereby handing Real Madrid a blow in his pursuit in the summer transfer window.

As for Real Madrid, Los Blancos will have to identify alternatives for the 25-year-old Brazilian international if he looks to remain in England upon leaving Manchester City.
