Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly given up their pursuit of former Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale this summer.

According to a report from Daily Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are not considering a move to re-sign Gareth Bale this summer. They were interested in bringing the Real Madrid star on a free transfer earlier this summer, but it appears the Premier League giants are now moving on to other targets.

Bale has become a free agent this summer after putting an end to his eight-year association with Real Madrid. During his time at the Bernabeu, the Welsh forward won five Champions League title while racking up 106 goals in 256 competitive appearances.

Bale did briefly return to Tottenham during the 2020/21 campaign. He was brought in by Jose Mourinho to add more bite to the Spurs attack. Although the Welshman did score 16 goals in all competitions upon his return to England, he failed to offer the consistency upfront and eventually returned to Real Madrid.

The 32-year-old’s fortunes did not change much following his return to the Bernabeu. He was largely ostracised from the Real Madrid first-team plans, with the attacker ending up making just five league appearances.

Bale’s status as a free agent had made him an appealing target for Tottenham earlier in the summer. But it appears coach Antonio Conte is looking for fresh blood in his attacking setup next season and is, therefore, scouring the market for other alternatives.

One of the options could be Gabriel Jesus. The Manchester City starlet is set to leave the Etihad in the summer, with the Lilywhites reportedly submitting an offer of around €47 million. He could arguably be a better option than Bale, as the Brazilian offers long-term solution and is far more versatile in the final third.

With a return to Tottenham ruled out, Bale could be set for a dream move to his hometown club Cardiff City. The Championship outfit have recently expressed the desire to sign the Welshman and are open to making an offer should the Real Madrid forward want to return to his homeland.

However, a move to MLS has also been mooted for Gareth Bale, who won’t mind putting his footballing and golfing skills to the test across the Atlantic, in what could be the final chapter of his decorated career.
