La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are unlikely to launch the offensive for 26-year-old German international Serge Gnabry this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication MARCA, Real Madrid’s pursuit of Serge Gnabry seems to have run its course without a move materialising. The Merengues will not launch the offensive for the German international in the summer transfer window after deeming Rodrygo Goes and Marco Asensio as sufficient options for the right flank.

Serge Gnabry has come a long way since being a temperamental prospect at Arsenal who failed to get going in England. Since moving to Germany, the 26-year-old has gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of the best forwards in the Bundesliga.

A pivotal figure for club and country, the German international has amassed 64 goals and 40 assists in 171 appearances for Bayern Munich thus far. But Gnabry’s future at the Allianz Arena is up in the air, as his contract will run out next year. Such a situation has reportedly captured the attention of some of the most high profile clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid.

But as per MARCA, the Spanish giants do not hold an interest in Gnabry despite Gareth Bale’s departure as a free agent. While the Welsh international’s exit leaves a spot open in the attacking unit at Real Madrid, the Merengues believe that Rodrygo Goes and Marco Asensio have the right-wing berth covered.

In addition, Lucas Vazquez is a decent fallback option for Carlo Ancelotti, with the Spaniard proving to be a utility man for Real Madrid with his ability to play anywhere on the right flank. At the same time, Eden Hazard will also vie for one of the wide-attacking berths, meaning Real Madrid could be fine when it comes to options on the flanks.

Recent reports had claimed that Real Madrid and Gnabry were in contact. But the reigning La Liga champions have not been in touch with the 26-year-old German international. So while Gnabry was keen on moving to Real Madrid after leaving Bayern Munich, he might have to assess his options.

The Bayern Munich forward is a target for former club Arsenal, with several other Premier League outfits also keen on signing him. For now, though, what seems certain is that Gnabry will not join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, with Los Blancos prioritising reinforcing other positions.
