Real Madrid will reportedly have to pay €40 million to secure the services of German international Serge Gnabry from Bayern Munich.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Bayern Munich will demand €40 million to part with Serge Gnabry in the summer transfer window. The German international is a target for Real Madrid and wishes to move to the Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Serge Gnabry has defined his career by joining Bayern Munich over half a decade ago. One of the most enterprising forwards in the Bundesliga, the German international is a mainstay in the attack for club and country, with his performances set to play a pivotal role in Die Mannschaft’s campaign at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 26-year-old has amassed 64 goals and 40 assists in 171 appearances for Bayern Munich thus far. But Gnabry faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena, with his contract with the Bavarian giants set to expire next year. Such a situation has captured the attention of some of the most high profile clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid will likely invest in a wide-attacker in the summer transfer window following Gareth Bale’s departure as a free agent. With Marco Asensio’s future up in the air, the need to bolster the offensive unit might accentuate further for Real Madrid if the Spaniard joins Bale on the exit trail.

As a result, Kylian Mbappe had become the priority target for Real Madrid, who chased the French international for nearly a year before he snubbed them. And Gnabry has emerged as an alternative to Mbappe for Los Blancos, who have already initiated contact with the German international.

Recent reports have also claimed that the 26-year-old is prioritising a summer move to Real Madrid, even as other decorated clubs chase him. And now the Spanish giants know how much they will need to cough up to secure the services of Gnabry, with Bayern Munich demanding €40 million for him.
