Arsenal are confident of signing Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus, having reached a personal agreement with the forward.

According to a report from Football Insider, Arsenal are closing in on the capture of Gabriel Jesus. The two parties have reached a personal agreement ahead of a potential move to Emirates. Jesus has accepted a lucrative contract from the Gunners that will seal his place as a first-team regular and offer him a significant pay raise.

Jesus has already told his friends he is eager to link up with Mikel Arteta once again. The pair worked together during their time at Manchester City when Arteta used to serve as the assistant manager of Pep Guardiola before he eventually became the head coach at Arsenal.

In light of Alexandre Lacazette’s impending exit and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Barcelona in January, Arsenal are desperate for attacking reinforcements in the coming summer. They have been linked with a move for Manchester United academy graduate Marcus Rashford while Dominic Calvert-Lewin was another option considered by Arteta.

But Gabriel Jesus had been the priority for Arsenal, with the Brazilian international now close to moving to the Emirates. The forward shares a good relationship with Arteta and the pair have worked together in the past. With 236 competitive appearances for Manchester City and four Premier League titles, the Brazilian also brings the experience and winning mentality to the team.

It could go a long way in helping Arsenal shape up the future of their attacking unit. Jesus is indeed a versatile forward, who can effortlessly move out wide if needed and complement the creative-minded stars such as Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard.

The Manchester City starlet is also eager to become a regular starter at Arsenal after serving as an understudy for Sergio Aguero for the majority of his spell at Manchester City. With the Gunners themselves looking for a versatile forward, Jesus’ move to Emirates is indeed a match made in heaven.

Earlier in the weekend, it was claimed that Arsenal were willing to hand a lucrative £200,000 per week contract to Jesus. Now, Football Insider states that the 25-year-old has agreed on personal terms with the north London outfit.

The report suggests Arsenal are yet to agree to a transfer fee with Manchester City. But the two clubs have initiated contact and the Gunners are confident of their chances of snapping up the Brazilian international. If the move goes through, Gabriel Jesus will become Arsenal’s second signing for next season, after Matt Turner, who will be joining the club imminently from New England Revolution.

  1. I just wonder why my beloved Arsenal likes to be too slow in snapping up talents, £50m ain’t much for him considering his reputation his class of player and what he’s going to offer our team. Now he’s been offered to both Madrid s in Spain. I wish arsenal good luck
