Ousmane Dembele is reportedly closing in on leaving Barcelona as a free agent, with his move to Paris Saint-Germain 95 per cent done.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Adrian Sanchez, Ousmane Dembele is closer than ever to joining Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window. The Barcelona forward has nearly completed his agreement with PSG, and decision-makers at Camp Nou are preparing for his exit as a free agent.

Ousmane Dembele’s contract saga has become one of the talking points in the market this year. The French international seemed destined to leave Barcelona in the January transfer window after director of football Mateu Alemany announced that the two parties had reached a point of no return in contract renewal talks.

But Dembele stayed put at Camp Nou, and Xavi Hernandez brought the best out of him in the second half of 2021/22. The 25-year-old ended the season with more assists than anyone else in La Liga this term (13) despite playing only 21 games. But Dembele’s Barcelona future remains up in the air, with PSG hot on his trail.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona’s hopes of keeping hold of Dembele beyond the summer transfer window have been fading. And with contract renewal talks between the two parties going nowhere, several high profile suitors, including PSG, have emerged in the pursuit of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Dembele is reportedly a priority target for PSG, who have been pursuing the Barcelona forward from the days when Kylian Mbappe’s future was uncertain. While Mbappe has decided to remain at Parc des Princes, PSG’s interest has not ended, which is understandable, considering Angel Di Maria has left a spot open in the squad following his departure as a free agent.

Dembele is thus a viable target for PSG, and the two parties seem to have inched closer to confirming the Bosman move in the summer transfer window. According to Adrian Sanchez, Dembele’s move to PSG is 95 per cent done, with Barcelona preparing for his departure as a free agent.
