Celta Vigo and Valencia have reportedly tabled offers to sign out-of-favour Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite on loan for the upcoming season.
According to SPORT, La Liga sides Celta Vigo and Valencia are interested in signing Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite on loan in the upcoming summer transfer window and have submitted offers for the Dane.
Braithwaite has been with Barcelona for more than two years now after signing from Leganes in February 2020. The 31-year-old has been a handy squad player for the Catalans, offering versatility and work rate to the table. However, he has never been a regular in the lineup and has fallen down the pecking order further over the past six months.
Indeed, Braithwaite finds himself behind Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele in the order of preference at Camp Nou. And with the Catalan giants pushing to sign Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha from Bayern Munich and Leeds United, respectively, this summer, the Danish international will fall further out of relevance at Camp Nou.
As a result, Barcelona are intent on getting rid of Braithwaite in the upcoming transfer window. The 31-year-old forward is attracting interest from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion, who are keen on signing him on loan for the upcoming campaign. Now Valencia and Celta Vigo have also emerged as potential suitors for the former Leganes ace.
Celta Vigo are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this summer, with manager Eduardo Coudet keen on bolstering his frontline. As for Valencia, they have been looking to sign Braithwaite since the January transfer window and have carried forward their interest in the Danish international heading into the summer.
Both La Liga clubs have now tabled loan offers for Braithwaite, with Barcelona willing to consider the proposals even though they would prefer an outright transfer. However, the Catalans might experience some hurdles in their efforts to offload Braithwaite as the 31-year-old is intent on staying put at Camp Nou.
Indeed, Braithwaite issued a statement earlier this month, making it clear that he does not wish to leave Camp Nou and is prepared to stay and fight for his place. So, convincing him to leave the club will be a challenge for Barcelona, especially as the forward is reluctant to reduce his wages. So, the Catalans might have to contribute a part of his wages to send him out on loan for the next season.
