Romelu Lukaku is reportedly keen on sealing an exit from Stamford Bridge this summer and return to Italy.

According to a report from Daily Telegraph, Romelu Lukaku is seemingly frustrated with his spell at Chelsea. The Belgian forward is not happy with his life at Stamford Bridge and is ready to force a move away from the club in the upcoming summer transfer window. He wants to return to Italy, with his former club Inter Milan emerging as a potential destination.

Lukaku has a close relationship with the Serie A club thanks to a fruitful spell under Antonio Conte. Their relationship had gone downhill following his move to Chelsea last summer, leaving the Inter Milan board and the fans irked with his decision. However, Lukaku is ready to make amends by returning to the Giuseppe Meazza and is willing to take a massive pay cut in the process.

The Belgian international is even willing to earn half the amount he currently earns at Chelsea. Inter themselves are beginning to entertain the idea of the forward’s potential return to Milan, although they are facing financial roadblocks in completing the deal.

The Nerazzurri are certainly not in a position to help Chelsea recoup the entirety of the fortune they had spent on Lukaku last summer. The Blues, though, could be open to a loan deal, with an option to buy clause embedded in the contract.

Daily Telegraph suggests Chelsea are looking for a fee of around £20 million for a one-year loan of Lukaku. The deal would include a purchase option clause worth the remainder of the fee they had spent on the player, meaning a figure of around £70 million, if not more.

Agreeing to such terms could be next to impossible for Inter Milan, who have embraced a more conservative financial policy since their recent economic debacle. There is still hope in the Nerazzurri camp, especially given the fact that the Serie A club might earn handsome revenue from the sale of Lautaro Martinez.

The Argentine international has been curiously linked with a move to Chelsea, so it will be interesting to see if the two clubs can somehow broker a swap deal involving the two close friends, who had lit up the Serie A under the tutelage of Conte not more than two years ago.
