Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Clement Lenglet from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Clement Lenglet is the subject of interest from Juventus over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants want to secure the services of the Barcelona defender on a loan deal, with Tottenham Hotspur also vying for his signature.

Clement Lenglet has seen his stock plummet at Barcelona in the last two seasons. The Frenchman was once the first-choice centre-back for the Blaugrana but has now become a squad option after the advent of Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia’s return to Barcelona last summer.

The 26-year-old managed just over 1,000 minutes of game-time in 26 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona this past season. And Lenglet is surplus to requirements at Camp Nou, with the Blaugrana ready to offload him in the summer transfer window. Such a situation has captured the attention of Juventus and Tottenham.

The interest from Juventus comes in the wake of Giorgio Chiellini’s impending departure as a free agent in the summer transfer window. The long-serving Italian defender will likely move to a Major League Soccer club, leaving a gaping hole in the defensive unit at the Serie A club.

In addition, Leonardo Bonucci is well into his thirties and in the final phase of his illustrious career. Juventus will thus need to invest in a centre-back this summer, with Aymeric Laporte recently emerging on their radar. And Lenglet is also a viable target for the Serie A giants, who face stiff competition from Tottenham in his pursuit.

Tottenham and Barcelona are reportedly in negotiations over a possible move for Lenglet, with the Catalan heavyweights themselves pushing the Frenchman towards the north London club. And with Spurs keen on signing a left-footed centre-back, Lenglet is an option worth considering.

Lenglet is reportedly ready to leave Barcelona, even though recent reports had claimed that he was hoping to stay put and fight for his place in the team. But Juventus’s emergence should push the French defender towards the exit door at Camp Nou, with the Serie A giants set to battle Tottenham in the race to sign him from Barcelona.
