Real Madrid are reportedly finalising a deal to secure the signing of 16-year-old Spanish winger Erik Vazquez from Girona this summer.

According to a report from Defensa Central, Real Madrid are continuing on the path of strengthening their youth ranks as they are closing in on the capture of teenage prodigy Erik Vazquez from Girona.

Born in 2006, Vazquez has been with the Girona youth academy since a very young age and has been widely regarded as one of the finest young prospects in Spain. The 16-year-old has caught the eyes of the onlookers with his performances at the youth level for the Catalan outfit.

Capable of playing on either flank, Vazquez has shown a keen eye for a goal in his young career. Despite being a Cadete A (Under-16) player, the winger made his debut for Girona’s Juvenil B (Under-18) and Juvenil A (Under-19) sides this past season. And he is now set to earn a move to one of the biggest clubs on the planet in the form of Real Madrid.

The Spanish capital club have been focusing a lot of efforts on strengthening their academy ranks and the Castilla squad over the past couple of years as chairman Florentino Perez wishes to produce superstars for the future from within La Fabrica

It has seen Real Madrid capture some of the brightest young talents from within Spain and outside. The champions of Spain and Europe recently acquired the services of Brazilian right-back Vinicius Tobias for the Castilla outfit while they also signed prodigious Spanish goalkeeper Ferran Quetglas.

In addition, Real Madrid have also managed to sign several other exciting prospects like Asier Bonel, Nico Afonso and his twin brother Jacobo Afonso. And, as per the aforementioned report, Vazquez is set to become the next in the line of talented youngsters making their way to La Fabrica.

The deal for the 16-year-old winger is in the final stages and is expected to be completed imminently. Upon arrival, Vazquez is tipped to link up with Real Madrid’s Juvenil C (Under-17) outfit. But given the potential that he has shown, it will not be a surprise to see him move up the ranks through La Fabrica quickly.

While Real Madrid’s youth recruitment is progressing sharply, they have also made good strides with regard to their transfer plans at the first-team level. A deal to sign Antonio Rudiger is already in place while they are set to step up their pursuit of Raheem Sterling after missing out on Kylian Mbappe.
