Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made an enquiry for Juventus’ Weston McKennie over a summer move.

According to The Times, Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry over the availability of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie. Manager Antonio Conte continues to be linked with players from Serie A, and McKennie is the latest addition to that list.

Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic seems all set to complete a free move to Spurs with personal terms reportedly agreed. Conte is also believed to be eager to add Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni to his backline in north London.

The Italian tactician had benefitted hugely with the winter arrivals of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus who helped the side finish in the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League. Conte is willing to continue on that path, and in this process, Spurs have made an enquiry about McKennie.

The United States of America international has cost Juventus £18.45 million, on top of an initial £4 million loan fee, and has now spent two seasons with them. He first joined the Bianconeri from Schalke on loan in 2020 before the move was made permanent last summer.

In his first season in Turin, McKennie played 46 matches across competitions, the majority of which came from the central midfield position. He also scored six and assisted three goals. His game time in the 2021/22 campaign was cut down considerably due to a metatarsal fracture he suffered in the second half of the season, before returning on the final league matchday.

Juventus currently value the 23-year-old at £33 million, which is considerably higher than what they paid for him last year. The discussions are still believed to be in early stages but Spurs’ approach could be helped by the fact that their director of football, Fabio Paratici, had signed McKennie for Juventus and knows the player intimately.

The north London club could potentially lose all three of Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks in the upcoming summer window, which has forced them to enter the market for a central midfielder. Whether a move for McKennie sees the light of the day after the initial enquiry from Tottenham remains to be seen.
