Liverpool forward Sadio Mane reportedly wants to leave the club this summer amid strong interest from Bayern Munich.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sadio Mane has decided to leave Liverpool this summer after six glorious years with the club. The Senegal international has a year remaining on his current deal with the Reds but he prefers a move this window over running down his contract.

Mane formed a famous triumvirate with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, leading Liverpool through one of their most successful spells. But all three forwards are set to enter their final year of contract with the Premier League giants, with the 30-year-old Mane seemingly on his way out.

The Senegal captain joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2016 and has made 269 appearances for the club, scoring 120 goals and providing 48 assists. Mane won one each of the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup and the FA Cup during his time with the Reds.

His best season in a Liverpool shirt came in 2018/19 when he finished with 26 goals across competitions, winning the Premier League Golden Boot with 22 strikes as the Reds finished one point behind champions Manchester City. His four goals also ensured that the Merseyside giants win their sixth Champions League trophy.

Rumours of a possible exit started making rounds when Mane’s form took a slight dip last season, even then he finished with 16 goals across competitions. But with him now entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool, speculations of a departure have been rife.

Ahead of the Champions League final against Real Madrid, which Liverpool eventually lost 1-0, Mane addressed his future but stopped short of giving a clear-cut answer.

“Honestly, I think the answer I can give you now is I feel very good, and I am fully focused on Saturday’s game, that is the answer I must give before the final,” said Mane. “But come back to me on Saturday and I will give you the best answer you want to hear, for sure. It’s special. I will give you all you want to hear then.”

Bayern Munich have emerged as the most likely destination for the Liverpool forward with Barcelona monitoring his situation as well. But Fabrizio Romano claims Mane’s entourage are yet to decide on his next club. As things stand, though, it seems like Mane could be on his way out of Anfield in the summer transfer window.
